Balkan region weather forecast predicts shift from warmth to rain

The Balkan region is experiencing a period of significant weather transitions. Initially, much of the area, including Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and parts of Croatia, will see sunny and warm conditions with temperatures reaching up to 28 or 29 degrees Celsius.

However, a shift is expected later in the week. Forecasts indicate a transition toward increased cloud cover, heavy rain, and potential thunderstorms, particularly along the Adriatic coast and in parts of Croatia and Bosnia. This shift will be accompanied by a notable drop in temperatures, with some areas potentially cooling by up to 10 degrees Celsius.

Longer-term meteorological models suggest that the development of a strong El Niño in the Pacific, combined with warm Mediterranean and Adriatic Sea temperatures, could lead to a season of extreme weather oscillations across the Balkans. This may result in a warmer autumn with increased precipitation, interspersed with sudden cold fronts and wind shifts.
