Warmia-Mazury Border Guard reveals scale of illegal foreign employment
The Warmian-Masurian Border Guard conducted inspections regarding the legality of employment for nearly 2,000 foreigners between January and July 2026. These operations revealed that 571 individuals were working in violation of current regulations.
Common infractions included employing foreigners without the required permits, assigning work that differed from legal documentation, and failing to establish formal employment contracts. Citizens of Colombia accounted for 54 percent of the identified cases, followed by citizens of India at 10 percent, and citizens of Indonesia and Uzbekistan at 5 percent each.
The construction industry saw the highest rate of violations at 29 percent, followed by employment agencies at 26 percent and the manufacturing sector at 20 percent. The highest concentration of illegal employment was identified in the Ostróda district, which accounted for 16 percent of all cases.
