Warner Bros. Discovery halts Barbie sequel amid star salary dispute

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has refused to approve the salary increases demanded by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling for a planned sequel to the 2023 film "Barbie," which earned roughly $1.5 billion worldwide.

Negotiations have stalled as the studio faces a December deadline after which the Barbie film rights revert to toy maker Mattel. If no agreement is reached, Mattel could move the sequel to another studio, ending Warner's control of the franchise.
