On 1 August 2026 Poland commemorated the 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising. At 17:00 the historic “Hour W” siren sounded in Warsaw and dozens of cities, pausing traffic for a minute of silence. Religious services, concerts, charity runs, historical reenactments and public speeches were held across the country.

The commemorations recalled the massive human cost of the 1944 uprising, including the Wola massacre in which 40 000–60 000 civilians were killed between 5–7 August 1944.
