Warzymice couple loses 300,000 PLN after discarding dresser

A couple in Warzymice, near Szczecin, accidentally discarded approximately 300,000 PLN after throwing away a dresser during a home renovation. The owner, identified as Paweł, believed the piece of furniture was empty and worthless.

The funds, which the couple had reportedly saved over several years through seasonal work abroad, were intended to pay off a mortgage and fund apartment renovations. The error was discovered a day later when the couple realized the cash had been left inside the dresser at a large-item waste collection point.

Police have launched an investigation into the matter, and the couple has also hired a private detective agency. Authorities are currently reviewing surveillance footage from nearby buildings and vehicles, as well as interviewing witnesses. Under Polish law, misappropriating an amount exceeding 800 PLN is a crime punishable by up to three years in prison.
