Washington Capitals Justin Sourdif NHL contract extension eight-year deal

The Washington Capitals have signed forward Justin Sourdif to an eight-year contract extension worth $50.8 million. The deal, which carries an average annual value of $6.35 million, will keep the 24-year-old center with the team through the 2034-35 season.

Sourdif was acquired from the Florida Panthers last offseason in exchange for a 2026 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick. Following his arrival in Washington, he established himself as a reliable depth center, recording 35 points (15 goals, 20 assists) in 78 games during his first full NHL season.

Capitals General Manager Chris Patrick stated that Sourdif is a versatile player who has developed steadily and is expected to continue elevating his game alongside the team’s veteran and young players.
