Washington State Fire Agencies Boost Wildfire Preparedness

Fire officials in Washington state are intensifying preparations for the upcoming wildfire season. Snohomish County has imposed a blanket ban on all outdoor burning until sustained rainfall reduces fire risk, and it is providing resources such as wood chippers to help residents clear vegetation around homes. Firefighters are completing refresher wildland‑fire training and are being mobilized across the state; crews from Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue and Sky Valley Fire District have been deployed to fight the Bradeen Hill and Old Trails fires in eastern Washington.

The Washington Fire Coalition Association (WFCA) has also issued high‑level mop‑up best‑practice guidelines for first responders, emphasizing safety, hazard assessment, personnel accountability, and protection of waterway and cultural resources during post‑fire operations. The combined efforts aim to reduce fire reignition, protect lives and infrastructure, and support coordinated response across agencies.
