Wasim Akram criticizes Pakistan cricket systemic failures

Former Pakistan captain and fast bowler Wasim Akram has criticized the deep-rooted systemic issues within Pakistan cricket following the team's struggles during their tour of England. Akram highlighted deficiencies in batting, bowling, and fielding, noting that the team's performance has been below average across all departments.

Akram identified the instability of the first-class domestic structure and inconsistent decision-making by cricket authorities as primary drivers of the crisis. He argued that the lack of a robust system to develop talent below the current top-tier players prevents the emergence of consistent international cricketers. He noted that frequent changes to the domestic structure have hindered player development.

Furthermore, Akram described the management's mid-tour decisions as ‘embarrassing,’ specifically citing the removal of seven players and the dismissal of head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and assistant Umar Gul during the tour. He stated that such sweeping changes mid-tour indicate a significant lack of communication and stability within the team management.
