Water accidents reported in Mexico and Costa Rica

Several fatal or ongoing water-related accidents have been reported across Mexico and Costa Rica.

In Ciudad Mante, Tamaulipas, a 26-year-old man identified as José Daniel “N” drowned at the El Nacimiento resort. Witnesses reported he disappeared beneath the surface while swimming, and his body was recovered after more than 20 minutes. Despite resuscitation efforts by emergency personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In Costa Rica, emergency services are managing multiple incidents. In the Pococí region, the Costa Rican Red Cross is searching for a 55-year-old man who disappeared in the Toro Amarillo River following an accident on Saturday. Search efforts have faced challenges due to heavy rains, which caused the river level to rise approximately three meters above normal.

Additionally, a Panamanian national died after drowning in a creek in the Talamanca sector of Limón. The incident occurred late Friday night at the Switche creek in Paraíso de Sixaola. Red Cross responders arrived to find the man without vital signs and transferred the body to judicial authorities.
