Water and sanitation infrastructure repairs underway in Argentina and Chile

Municipalities in Argentina and Chile are implementing measures to address water and sanitation issues. In Tafí Viejo, Argentina, authorities have launched the ‘Ciudad Seca’ program to repair water and sewage networks. The initiative, a collaboration between the municipality and Sociedad Aguas del Tucumán, utilizes eleven obstruction trucks and seven crews to fix leaks and prevent public sewage overflows, starting in the José Colombres area.

In Río Hurtado, Chile, heavy rains in July destroyed the rural sanitary systems and wastewater treatment plants in Tahuinco and Tabaqueros. To mitigate the loss of potable water and waste disposal services, Mayor Carmen Juana Olivares confirmed that water trucks are being deployed to supply affected residents in Tabaqueros, Tahuinco, Huampulla, and Quebrada Santander. This emergency response is funded by the Limarí Provincial Presidential Delegation and approved by Senapred.
