Water contamination alerts issued in Poland

Authorities in Poland have issued urgent water safety warnings for several regions following the detection of bacteria in public water supplies.

In the Łubnice municipality, E. coli bacteria were detected in water from the Dzietrzkowice Water Treatment Plant. The contamination affects the towns of Dzietrzkowice, Łubnice, Wójcin, and Andrzejów. Residents are advised that tap water is unfit for consumption, food preparation, or bathing, even after boiling. The municipality has begun distributing water for residents and livestock.

In the Grudusk municipality, the State Sanitary Inspectorate in Ciechanów reported that the Humięcino public water supply is unfit for human consumption due to the presence of coliform bacteria and fecal enterococci. The advisory affects 651 residents across eight locations, including Humięcino, Łysakowo, and Zakrzewo. While the water cannot be used for drinking, cooking, or personal hygiene, it may still be used for flushing toilets and cleaning floors.
