Water contamination warnings issued for several Polish municipalities

Health authorities in Poland have issued warnings regarding water quality in several regions due to bacterial contamination. In the Wilkonice supply zone, the State District Sanitary Inspector in Gostynin detected coliform bacteria in water samples. Residents of Wilkonice, Wilkoniczki, and Pasierby in the Pępowo municipality are advised to boil water for at least two minutes before using it for drinking, food preparation, washing vegetables, brushing teeth, or bathing infants.

In the Rogożewo supply zone, recent tests conducted on August 26, 2026, showed an absence of coliform bacteria, E. coli, and fecal enterococci. While water tanker deliveries and bottled water supplies have been suspended due to this improvement, the State District Sanitary Inspector in Rawicz still requires residents in Rogożewo, Płaczkowo, Bartoszewice, and several other surrounding villages to boil water. This precaution remains in place while waiting for final results regarding the total number of microorganisms at 22°C.

For both areas, unboiled water may still be used for general hygiene, such as laundry, floor cleaning, and adult bathing, provided there is no direct contact with food or consumption.
