Water contamination warnings issued in several Polish municipalities

Health authorities in Poland have issued warnings regarding water contamination in several regions due to the presence of bacteria.

In the Gniezno municipality, the State District Sanitary Inspector declared water unfit for consumption in the villages of Jankówka, Jankowa Dolna, Kalina, and Lulków. Testing revealed coliform bacteria and Escherichia coli. Residents are advised not to use the water for drinking, food preparation, washing fruits or vegetables, or personal hygiene. The water may only be used for cleaning floors and flushing toilets. Water tankers are being deployed to provide drinking water, and disinfection efforts are underway.

In the municipalities of Kodrąb, Kobiele Wielkie, and Radomsko, residents must boil water before use. Contamination was detected in the Wola Malowana and Strzałków water supply systems, where coliform bacteria were found. The health risk is classified as medium. In Wola Malowana, the warning affects numerous locations including Feliksów, Rzejowice, and Kodrąb. In Strzałków, the warning applies to Grzebień and parts of Strzałków. Authorities recommend boiling water for at least two minutes for drinking, tooth brushing, and food preparation.
