Water distribution efforts respond to extreme drought in Indonesia
Various organizations are distributing clean water to combat extreme drought and the effects of forest and land fires across Indonesia.
PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) has been deploying water tanks and fire trucks to distribute hundreds of thousands of liters of water to residents in Morowali, specifically in the Bahodopi district. The distribution targets villages such as Bahomakmur, Fatufia, Kurisa, and Labota, as well as local schools and places of worship, in response to requests from local village governments.
Additionally, the Student Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama Higher Education Institutions (BEM PTNU) across the archipelago has distributed 1 million liters of clean water to mark National Santri Day. This humanitarian effort reaches multiple regions, including West and Central Kalimantan, Jambi, South Sumatra, Madura, and parts of Java and Sulawesi, to assist those affected by drought and smoke from forest fires. BEM PTNU also provided masks to help mitigate the impact of smoke inhalation.
