Water Infrastructure Projects Advance in Argentina and Peru

In the Argentine province of Buenos Aires, officials highlighted progress on the final stage of the Río Salado Master Plan. The Tramo V segment, extending 60.26 km from Alberti to the lower reaches of Laguna de Rocha, includes the reconstruction of seven bridges and complementary works aimed at improving the basin’s overall functionality. Stakeholders said the project will recover around 400,000 hectares of productive land, boost agricultural competitiveness and enhance water security for thousands of families in the region.

In northern Peru, representatives of the Chira‑Piura River Basin Water Resources Council inspected the Talara Integral Rain‑water Drainage Project. The work, managed by the National Infrastructure Authority, has completed Package 7 in the Los Pinos urbanisation and is advancing with Package 8, which involves constructing hydraulic structures and a new canal in the Jesús María sector. The system is expected to protect more than 98,000 residents from flood risk by efficiently capturing, conveying and evacuating storm‑water.
