Water infrastructure projects inaugurated and celebrated in Ecuador and Peru
In Ecuador, the Chiquicahua dam has been inaugurated in the Tungurahua province. The infrastructure has a storage capacity of over 3 million cubic meters and is expected to benefit more than 12,500 families. The project aims to improve water availability for drinking, irrigation, and ecological flow, helping to mitigate drought conditions and support thousands of hectares of productive land.
In Peru, the Pillones dam is celebrating its 20th anniversary of operation. Developed through a partnership between the Empresa de Generación Eléctrica de Arequipa (EGASA) and Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde, the dam holds 80 million cubic meters of water. It plays a critical role in the water management strategy for Arequipa, regulating resources during rainy seasons to support the population and local agricultural activities throughout the year.
