Water infrastructure projects launched in Zimbabwe and Malawi
Harare City Council has announced a US$50 million water infrastructure upgrade aimed at improving supply reliability for over two million residents in the greater Harare area. The project, which targets completion by the end of 2026, is intended to address challenges with ageing systems and benefit communities including Chitungwiza and Epworth.
In Malawi, the M’mbelwa District Council has launched the K249 million Edingeni Water Supply Project in the Mzimba South West Constituency. Funded by the Constituency Development Fund, the project involves drilling a borehole and installing solar-powered pumps, tanks, and ten water points. Expected to be completed by December, the initiative aims to provide safe water to approximately 3,000 people and reduce the prevalence of water-borne diseases.
