Water Infrastructure Upgrades Boost Supply in Bolivia and Mexico

The government of Bolivia’s Potosí department handed over 220 pipe units to the Autonomous Administration for Sanitary Works (AAPOS), investing nearly one million bolivianos to replace deteriorated lines that connect the Lacachaca lagoon to the Juch’uy Chaluma system. Governor René Joaquino Cabrera said the project, expected to be completed in about 45 days, will allow the capture of up to 60 litres per second of water, strengthening the supply for thousands of families.

In Mexico, the water‑treatment plant “Los Filtros” in the San Luis Potosí metropolitan area is 48 percent complete in its rehabilitation. INTERAPAS is modernising the facility to improve potabilisation, installing new flocculation and sedimentation tanks and restoring capacity to provide a more reliable water supply for the same scale of households.
