Water leaks and flooding cause road hazards in Ciudad Juárez
Persistent water accumulation and flooding are creating hazardous driving conditions in several areas of Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. On Manuel Bernal Street in the downtown area, a water leak has submerged three large potholes, one of which exceeds two meters in length and spans two lanes. Local workers report the issue has persisted for approximately three months, with potholes reaching depths of over 10 centimeters. The standing water hides the damage, leading to vehicle damage and forcing motorists to use the Juárez Bus lanes to bypass the area.
Additionally, Talamás Camandari Avenue in the southeast of the city remains flooded more than a week after recent rains. The accumulation of water in the right-hand lanes has obscured potholes and forced drivers to merge into other lanes, causing significant traffic congestion and long queues. The combination of standing water and hidden road damage continues to impact mobility and vehicle safety in both sectors.
