Regional authorities implement flood prevention and water management works

Various regional governments in Argentina, Spain, and Uruguay are implementing preventive water management measures to mitigate the risks of flooding and heavy rainfall.

In Argentina, authorities in Los Juríes are supervising canalization works and drainage cleaning in areas such as La Nena, Talleres, and El Cuadrado to protect rural producers. Simultaneously, the Santa Cruz government is performing preventive maintenance on the Jeinimeni and Los Antiguos rivers, including sediment removal and slope reinforcement to manage potential snowmelt and intense precipitation.

In Menorca, Spain, the General Directorate of Water Resources is cleaning several torrents, including Ses Vinyes, Son Granot, and Santa Catalina, to prepare for potential flash floods. In Paysandú, Uruguay, the local administration is widening riverbeds and cleaning storm drains to improve water runoff and reduce the impact of forecasted extraordinary weather events.
