Water pipe bursts cause supply disruptions in Tin Shui Wai and Ngau Chi Wan
Multiple water pipe bursts have disrupted water supplies in different residential areas. In Tin Shui Wai, a 150mm diameter saltwater pipe burst on a pedestrian walkway at the junction of Tin Wah Road and Tin Shing Road on the evening of October 17. The incident affected saltwater supplies for Tin Yue Estate and parts of Tin Chung Yuen. The Water Supplies Department closed the valves for repairs, with service expected to resume by 7:30 AM on October 18.
In Ngau Chi Wan, a major pipe burst occurred at Ping Shek Estate during the early hours of October 17. A massive column of fresh water sprayed approximately ten stories high from the ground floor of Hung Shek House, creating a waterfall effect against the building walls. Two men, including a security guard, worked together to shut off the valve despite being soaked by the spray. The burst caused a temporary suspension of water supply to floors below the 16th floor of the building. The exact cause and location of the burst are under investigation.
