Water reservoir levels rise in Istanbul and Yalova following rainfall
Recent rainfall in Turkey has significantly boosted water reservoir levels in Istanbul and Yalova. In Istanbul, the total water reserve stabilized at approximately 53.01% as of October 23. There is a notable disparity between the city's two sides: reservoirs on the Anatolian side, such as Darlık (88.88%) and Ömerli (77.47%), maintain high levels. Conversely, reservoirs on the European side remain lower, with Terkos at 36.82% and Büyükçekmece at 30.68%.
In Yalova, the Gökçe Dam saw its occupancy rate rise from 49% in early October to a peak of 74% on October 17 due to heavy precipitation. As of October 23, the level has adjusted to 66% as authorities conduct controlled water discharge through dam gates. This discharge has increased the water level and flow speed in the Selimandıra Stream, which officials are monitoring closely.
