Indonesia drought triggers emergency water distribution across multiple regions

Multiple regions across Indonesia are facing severe water crises due to the peak of the dry season, prompting emergency responses from local disaster management agencies (BPBD).

In Temanggung, BPBD has distributed 185,000 liters of clean water to over 6,500 people across 19 locations. Similarly, in Semarang Regency, authorities have provided 185,000 liters of water to combat scarcity in areas like Kemitir and Kedungringin, with efforts including potential borehole drilling.

In Bojonegoro, the drought has affected 24 villages across 13 districts, requiring water tank deployments to meet resident demands. Meanwhile, in Makassar, the local government has declared an emergency status as the drought impacts over 47,000 residents across six districts, with Biringkanaya, Tallo, and Tamalanrea being the most heavily affected areas.

Local authorities are coordinating with various agencies, including the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) and local police, to accelerate water distribution via tank trucks to ensure basic needs are met for residents and public facilities.
