Water shortages impact residents in Argentina and Venezuela

Residents in different regions are facing severe water shortages due to infrastructure and service failures. In Villa Elisa, Argentina, approximately 80 families in the San Jorge neighborhood have been without consistent water since August 12. Residents reported that the issue began with sand appearing in the pipes, followed by a total loss of pressure. While the utility company, ABSA, provided a temporary solution by filling a single tank via a water truck following local protests, most families remain without a reliable supply.

In the Bolívar state of Venezuela, residents of the Residencia Angostura in Alta Vista have reported inconsistent water service for over a decade. Affected citizens describe a strict rationing schedule that forces them to rely on expensive water trucks and bottled water for daily necessities such as cooking and cleaning. Protesters recently demonstrated in front of the CVG headquarters to demand improvements to the service, noting the high cost of maintaining basic hygiene and household tasks under current conditions.
