Water shortages persist in Bantul and Bojonegoro despite recent rainfall
Despite the onset of rain in late October 2026, several regions in Indonesia continue to face severe water shortages following a prolonged dry season.
In Bantul, the GP Ansor organization distributed 250,000 liters of clean water, equivalent to 50 tanks, across five districts: Imogiri, Piyukangan, Dlingo, Pajangan, and Pundong. Ahmad Sidik, Chairman of PC Gerakan Pemuda Ansor Bantul, stated that distributions are being adjusted based on local needs and delivery capacity. Bantul Vice Regent Aris Suharyanta expressed appreciation for the organization's humanitarian efforts in assisting drought-affected residents.
In Bojonegoro, the number of villages requiring clean water has increased to 106 across 24 districts, up from 88 villages reported on October 14. Heru Wicaksi, Head of the Bojonegoro Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), noted that recent rainfall has been insufficient to alleviate the crisis due to low intensity and uneven distribution. The BPBD continues to provide water drops while advising residents to use water sparingly. According to BMKG predictions, significant rainfall may not arrive until late November or early December 2026.
