Water Supply Crisis in Gostivar Spurs Political Clash in North Macedonia

Residents of Gostivar have been receiving only about 60 tonnes of water per day from the state water company SOZR, prompting concerns over the city’s water supply. Local authorities are working to collect evidence for potential legal action and to prevent further shortages.

Opposition parties SDSM, DUI and the Tarabari coalition have been accused of shielding their own officials and avoiding calls for accountability from mayor Valbon Limani. The ruling VMRO‑DPMNE government, meanwhile, announced concrete steps to address the situation and protect the public interest, urging transparency and responsibility from all parties involved.
