Water supply cuts affect Atella and Conversano towns in Italy

Residents of Atella in the Basilicata region have been dealing with intermittent water service for weeks. Despite a rainy winter, the local water authority AQL told a citizen that low precipitation was to blame, a claim the resident Gerardo disputed, saying, “Ho chiamato il numero ‘segnalazione guasti’ … e mi è stato risposto che i problemi all’erogazione sono dovuti alle scarse precipitazioni di quest’inverno.” He added that the water pressure drops leave many households without water from night until morning.

In the Apulia town of Conversano, the mayor announced a planned water suspension on 16‑17 June 2026 to carry out extraordinary maintenance on pressure‑regulating equipment. The 21‑hour cut will affect all users, forcing the closure of municipal buildings, schools and public facilities. An emergency water tanker will be placed in Piazza Castello. The mayor Giuseppe Lovascio said, “Comprendiamo i disagi … ma si tratta di interventi necessari per migliorare la qualità e l’efficienza del servizio idrico.”
