Water supply cuts affect Italian towns as Turin blackout sparks compensation debate

Several municipalities in the Abruzzo region of Italy will experience non‑deferrable water supply interruptions from the night of 24 June 2026 until the following morning, with cuts scheduled in Filetto, Ari, Vacri, Altino, Villalfonsina, Lanciano, Casoli, Sant’Eusanio del Sangro and Ortona.

In Turin, energy consumers and businesses are confronting blackouts attributed to high temperatures and grid overloads. Consumer group Codacons warns that statutory compensation—up to €34.50 for domestic users and €172.50 for commercial users per interruption period—may be insufficient, urging automatic rebates on bills and possible collective legal action against power companies.

Both sets of disruptions highlight regulatory pressure on utility providers to maintain service continuity during peak demand periods and the growing scrutiny of compensation mechanisms for affected customers.
