Water supply disruptions hit neighborhoods in Itabira and Belo Horizonte, Brazil
In Itabira, an instability in the artesian well that serves the Barro Branco community may cause temporary water interruptions on Friday, 31 July 2026. The Serviço Autônomo de Água e Esgoto (Saae) says the problem could affect the neighborhoods of Areias, Chapada, Boa Esperança and Barro Branco, and that maintenance crews are working to restore normal flow. Residents are urged to use water sparingly until service is fully restored.
In Belo Horizonte, the electricity utility Cemig has scheduled maintenance on its power network that could lead to intermittent water supply and power outages in six city neighborhoods on Sunday, 2 August 2026, between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. Water service is expected to be restored gradually after the work is completed, and homes with water tanks may experience less impact. Authorities advise residents to conserve water during the outage.
