Water supply leaks disrupt households in Rio Branco and Barbalha, Brazil

Residents of the Joafra neighborhood in Rio Branco, Acre, have been without tap water for about 20 days after an unseen leak in the municipal supply system was identified. State deputy Afonso Fernandes lodged a formal request urging the local water utility SAERB and the city hall to expedite repairs, provide a clear timeline and, if needed, deliver emergency truck‑water supplies.

In Barbalha, Ceará, homeowners report structural damage, including cracks in walls and ceilings, after a water‑pipe infiltration was discovered following repairs by the state water company Cagece. The leak has affected homes, a fuel station and a tire‑shop, prompting Cagece to dispatch technical teams and coordinate with civil‑defence authorities to assess the damage and formulate a remediation plan.
