Water supply restored in Argentina's Gran Resistencia after copper‑theft outage

After a series of electrical failures at the Barranqueras water‑treatment complex, Sameep announced that potable water service is gradually normalising in the Gran Resistencia metropolitan area. The first incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when a man entered the transformer zone of Plant 3 to steal copper bars, causing a short circuit that shut down all four treatment plants and halted water production for the region. technicians from Sameep and SECHEEP restored power and resumed operations by late afternoon.

During the early hours of Monday a second fault struck the control board at the intake dock of Plant 2, leaving that unit without electricity until a damaged fuse was replaced around 07:30. Production and distribution are being restarted step‑by‑step as the plants come back online, with the company thanking its staff, SECHEEP and local police for resolving the emergencies.
