Water supply shortages reported in São Jorge and Belo Horizonte

Water supply issues are affecting different regions in Brazil. In the São Jorge district, authorities are addressing long-standing shortages exacerbated by the approaching dry season. Local officials, including Mayor Vander Masson and representatives from Samae, are discussing a partnership with the owners of Fazenda Netolândia to utilize an existing reservoir. While a permanent solution is being developed, immediate measures such as drilling additional artesian wells and using water trucks are being considered, as seven previously drilled wells failed to meet community demand.

In Belo Horizonte, residents of the Buritis neighborhood have reported water shortages lasting several days. The issue is reportedly caused by low pressure in the hydraulic network, particularly affecting homes in higher elevations. Copasa, the Minas Gerais Sanitation Company, attributed the fluctuations to operational adjustments following a broken water main in the Nova Granada neighborhood. The company stated that these maneuvers are necessary to stabilize the distribution system and redistribute flows.
