Water supply upgrades aid families in Chile and Argentina

In Las Trancas, a locality in the Canela commune of Chile, more than 40 families have received safe, chlorinated drinking water after the APRoxima programme installed a new container‑type chlorination unit, upgraded pumping controls and improved hydraulic and electrical infrastructure. The project was carried out by Minera Los Pelambres together with the municipal government and the Rural Sanitation Services Union.

In Fontana, Argentina, the water utility Sameep and the municipal authorities are extending the potable‑water network in the Banderas Argentinas neighbourhood. About 300 metres of pipe are being laid, deteriorated sections replaced, new household connections added and operation valves installed, bringing reliable service to roughly 70 families. Both initiatives aim to improve health and quality of life for rural residents through public‑private collaboration.
