Waymo robotaxi collides with minivan at California Costco

Video footage has surfaced showing a Waymo robotaxi colliding with a minivan at a Costco location in the Bay Area, California. The 20-second clip shows the light-blue autonomous vehicle striking the other car before continuing on its route without stopping. The struck vehicle also departed the scene following the collision.

The vehicle involved is the Zeekr RT, an all-electric robotaxi manufactured for Waymo by a subsidiary of Geely. While the model shares hardware with Chinese electric passenger vans, it was produced exclusively for Waymo. The vehicle was manufactured in 2024 and began commercial service this year.

This incident follows other reported issues with Waymo's fleet, including a recent complaint from a San Jose passenger who alleged a robotaxi drove away with his luggage still in the trunk after an airport drop-off.
