Middle East weather: Heatwaves and thunderstorms impact multiple countries
Extreme weather conditions are affecting several countries across the Middle East. In Saudi Arabia, the National Centre for Meteorology has issued warnings for intense heatwaves and heavy thunderstorms. Some regions, including Jazan, Asir, Al Baha, Mecca, and Medina, are expected to experience thunderstorms accompanied by hail and dust-inducing winds. Temperatures in some areas are reaching as high as 49 degrees Celsius.
Yemen is also facing severe weather, with forecasts predicting heavy thunderstorms and hail in mountainous regions from Saada to Lahj, alongside high temperatures and potential dust storms in desert areas. In Iraq, the weather service anticipates the first signs of winter with light thunderstorms expected in the northern regions next week, while temperatures remain high in central and southern areas.
In Egypt, a period of high temperatures and humidity is expected, with potential for morning fog and light drizzle in some coastal and northern areas. The United Arab Emirates is seeing clear days during the day and humid conditions at night.
