Severe weather alerts have been issued for several West African nations. In Guinea, the National Meteorological Agency (ANM) has warned of heavy thunderstorm activity and strong winds expected between August 9 and August 11, 2026. The agency highlighted a high risk of flooding, significant runoff, and overflowing in vulnerable areas, specifically targeting Lower Guinea and locations including Conakry, Kindia, and Boké.
In Senegal, the National Civil Aviation and Meteorology Agency (ANACIM) has forecasted rainy and stormy weather affecting various regions, particularly in the south. Areas such as Kédougou, Tambacounda, and Ziguinchor are expected to see significant activity. While rain is expected, high temperatures between 36°C and 39°C are predicted for the central, northern, and eastern parts of the country.
