Turkey faces widespread heavy rain and flooding risks

Turkey is facing widespread severe weather conditions, including heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and potential flooding across multiple regions such as Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean, and Anatolia. Meteorologists warn of intense precipitation that could lead to flash floods, landslides, and storms. In some areas, such as Muğla, rainfall levels could reach 100 kilograms per square meter.

In Adıyaman, specifically in the Kahta and Besni districts, heavy rain has already caused flooding, stranded vehicles, and a road collapse on Mersin Street. Similar disruptions were reported in Malatya, where flooding in streets and underpasses caused traffic issues. In Yalova, extreme weather led to a one-day suspension of education and restrictions on two-wheeled vehicles.

Beyond precipitation, authorities have issued warnings for dust transport originating from Syria, which is expected to affect Southeastern Anatolia, including provinces like Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, and Diyarbakır. Additionally, temperatures across the country are expected to drop by 1 to 3 degrees Celsius.
