Wei Ping-cheng proposes elderly care and dementia support policies in Changhua
Changhua County mayoral candidate Wei Ping-cheng has proposed the ‘Happiness Evergreen Service’ policy, aimed at enhancing support for the elderly and those with dementia.
A key component of the proposal includes exempting health insurance premiums for residents aged 65 and older, as well as indigenous residents aged 55 and older. Wei also plans to establish ‘one public high-quality dementia day care center per township’ by utilizing idle public spaces to provide specialized care within familiar communities.
The policy framework focuses on ‘elderly protection’ and ‘health balance,’ seeking to integrate social welfare, healthcare, and transportation. Proposed initiatives include upgrading the ‘Evergreen Happiness Card’ to version 3.0 to improve medical transportation, implementing a meal delivery service in every village, and advocating for an increase in old-age farmer allowances to 12,000 TWD per month.
