Wei Ping-cheng registers for Changhua County magistrate election

Kuomintang candidate Wei Ping-cheng officially registered his candidacy for the Changhua County magistrate election on March 3. Accompanied by local officials including Legislator Cheng Ju-fen and Changhua County Council Speaker Hsieh Tien-lin, Wei pledged to transform Changhua into ‘Taiwan’s seventh metropolis’ and continue the administration of former magistrate Wang Hui-mei.

The registration process highlighted internal political dynamics, as Wang Hui-mei has not appeared to support Wei’s campaign. Hsieh Tien-lin commented on the situation, noting that while the campaign team is in a difficult position, Wang appears to be ‘enjoying peace’ away from the election. Hsieh suggested that if Wang declines to serve as campaign headquarters director, he would be willing to step into the role.

Meanwhile, Wang Hui-mei announced her return to the country and her intention to meet with Premier Cho Jung-tai. She is seeking Executive Yuan support for 11 major infrastructure projects in Changhua, including highway interchanges, mass transit networks, and industrial park developments, to facilitate the region's transformation.
