Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen sets cycling record in Stadtradeln event

The Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district has concluded its second annual 'Stadtradeln' cycling event with record-breaking results. Between July 5 and July 25, 2,588 participants organized into 170 teams cycled a total of 696,800 kilometers.

This collective effort resulted in an estimated reduction of 114 tons of CO2. The event saw increased participation from several municipalities, including first-time participants from Absberg, Ellingen, Haundorf, and Pappenheim. Notably, the municipality of Haundorf cycled 44,800 kilometers during its debut.

Preliminary national rankings place the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district in second place in Germany for the most kilometers cycled and third place for kilometers cycled per parliamentarian among municipalities with up to 99,999 inhabitants.
