Wer wird Millionär? contestant loses winnings after missing joke answer

During an episode of the game show ‘Wer wird Millionär?’, Carsten Muschalle, a 46-year-old contestant from Leipzig, lost his accumulated prize money after failing to recognize a wordplay-based question.

After reaching the 500-euro safety level, Muschalle attempted to play for 1,000 euros. The question asked which animal uses its tail as a grasping organ. The options provided were: A) Gemeines Weißohropossum, B) Galliger Schwarzfußleguan, C) Garstiger Rotbauchbiber, and D) Gehässiger Gelbmaulgibbon.

Despite host Günther Jauch expressing skepticism and suggesting the answer might be a joke from the production team, Muschalle chose the gibbon based on his own reasoning. He failed to realize that the answer relied on the alliteration used in the options. As a result, he fell back to his previous safety level of 500 euros.
