Wernigerode residential areas transformed by international street art

The Gebäude- und Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Wernigerode mbH (GWW) is continuing its 'art-on-buildings' initiative to revitalize residential areas. In August 2026, three international street artists decorated facades in the Stadtfeld and Burgbreite residential quarters.

The participating artists include Italian street artists Alessio-B. and Tony Gallo, as well as Giulia Yoshimura, who works under the pseudonym Mura. Mura, originally from Brazil, is known for works heavily influenced by botanical motifs.

This initiative follows a previous project in March 2024 and a large-scale mural by Alessio-B. in September 2025. GWW aims to use art to make prefabricated building areas more individual, lively, and recognizable. Managing Director Christian Zeigermann reported positive feedback from local residents during the design phase.
