Street art initiative in Wernigerode residential areas

Overview

The Gebäude- und Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Wernigerode mbH (GWW) launched a street art initiative in August 2026 to revitalize residential areas in the Stadtfeld and Burgbreite districts of Wernigerode.

International artists Alessio-B. from Italy, Tony Gallo, and Giulia Yoshimura (Mura) from Brazil decorated building facades with various styles, including colorful figures and botanical motifs. The project follows previous artistic efforts in March 2024 and September 2025. GWW Managing Director Christian Zeigermann noted that the initiative aims to make prefabricated housing areas more individual and recognizable, reporting positive community feedback during the process.
