Côte d'Ivoire implements traceability for cocoa and cashew sectors

Côte d'Ivoire is advancing traceability and identification initiatives across its major agricultural sectors. In the cocoa and coffee industry, the national traceability system (SNT) is undergoing testing in regions such as Soubré and Sakassou. This system, which includes producer cards, electronic payment terminals, and lot seals, is intended to meet international buyer requirements, with full implementation expected by September 2026.

Simultaneously, the country is addressing its cashew sector, where it holds the position of the world's top producer. The Conseil Coton Anacarde Karité (CCAK) has launched the Cashew Operator and Farm Identification Project (IEEA) in the Poro region. This initiative aims to create a reliable database of producers and farm sizes to optimize resource distribution and improve value chain security, serving as a precursor to potential national traceability requirements.
