West African exam bodies deny paper leaks and flood rumors amid logistical setbacks

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) said there was no leakage of question papers in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). WAEC’s Nigeria National Office head, Amos Dangut, attributed delays in Mathematics and Agricultural Science papers to logistical challenges following a fatal road accident on the Gombe‑Yola highway, but maintained that enhanced cyber monitoring prevented malpractice.

The Ghana Education Service (GES) also refuted a viral claim that floodwaters had swept away WASSCE papers and that affected candidates would need to rewrite the exam. GES labeled the statement fake and urged the public to rely on official communications for exam updates.
