West Bank displacement and settler violence accelerate in 2026
The West Bank is experiencing accelerated settlement expansion, land seizures, and systematic displacement of Palestinians. According to UN reports as of August 10, 2026, 76 Palestinians, including 18 children, have been killed in the West Bank. Approximately 3,800 Palestinians were displaced during 2026 due to settler violence, demolitions, and evictions, with OCHA reporting an average of 17 displacements per day—double the average of the previous three years.
More than 1,430 settler incidents have been recorded, impacting roughly 260 Palestinian communities. These attacks increasingly target essential infrastructure, including homes, agricultural land, livestock, water, and electricity. The situation is compounded by the policies of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who has advocated for aggressive actions against Palestinians in both Gaza and the West Bank through legislative and security measures.
