West Bank: Israeli forces and settlers target Palestinian olive harvest
The Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission has documented 482 attacks by Israeli settlers and military forces against Palestinian farmers since the start of the olive harvest season in October. These incidents, spread across nine West Bank governorates, include the theft of crops and equipment, destruction of agricultural infrastructure, and physical assaults.
In a single 12-hour period, 13 separate attacks were recorded in the Hebron, Ramallah, Al-Bireh, Nablus, and Jenin governorates. Reported actions include the uprooting of over 200 fruit trees and the destruction of three water wells in Bireen. In other areas, settlers reportedly stole olives and drove them to outposts for processing, while others used live ammunition to prevent farmers from accessing their lands.
International activists have also been targeted. Italian researcher Manuel Tartarotti and his father, Alberto, reported being detained, blindfolded, and beaten by Israeli police near Masafer Yatta. The two men were held for 24 hours on suspicion of terrorism before being deported to Italy. They were in the region to deliver funds to the Palestinian grassroots organization Youth of Sumud.
