West Bank: Over 100 Palestinians detained by Israeli forces in one week
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) reports that Israeli forces have detained more than 100 Palestinians in the West Bank over the past week, including children. The rights group stated that detention operations have intensified, alleging abuses such as physical assaults, field interrogations, and threats against families.
According to the PPS, Israeli forces conducted extensive home raids that involved searching and damaging properties, and in some instances, occupying homes for military use. Among those detained were journalists Muath Amarneh and Sabri Jibril, as well as Ahmad al-Sayfi, a former prisoner released in a recent exchange deal.
The group also reported that Israeli settlers have carried out attacks on Palestinians and their property, including road blockades and vehicle assaults, allegedly with the protection of Israeli forces. Since October 2023, the PPS estimates that more than 25,000 Palestinians have been detained in the West Bank, with thousands more in Gaza.
