West Bank sees 440 attacks in one week amid rising journalist detentions

The Palestinian Cabinet reported that 440 attacks occurred in the West Bank over the past week, resulting in the destruction of 70 Palestinian structures. The Cabinet called on the international community to take effective steps to prevent annexation and settlement projects, noting that while some European actions are welcomed, stronger measures aligned with international law are required to end the occupation.

Citing a report by the Israeli human rights organization B'Tselem, the Cabinet stated that Israeli military practices in the West Bank constitute a project to eliminate Palestinian existence through violence, forced displacement, restrictions on movement, and the destruction of infrastructure and homes.

Separately, the Palestinian Prisoners Society announced that the number of Palestinian journalists detained by Israel has risen to 37 since 2023. The society reported that journalists are being targeted through arrests, unfair sentencing, and solitary confinement to suppress the Palestinian narrative. Currently, 19 journalists in the West Bank and Jerusalem are held under administrative detention, accounting for 51% of all journalists in custody.
