West Bank faces surge in Israeli military raids and settlement expansion
The West Bank is experiencing a surge in Israeli military activity and settlement expansion. According to a report by the National Bureau for Land Defense and Anti-Settlement Resistance, there has been a significant increase in military orders for land seizure, tree removal, and road construction between August 8 and 14, 2026. The report notes that since October 2023, 114 orders have been issued to expand settlement influence, affecting over 25,000 dunams.
In Jenin, Major General Avi Plot signed 15 land seizure orders in July, some within Area A. Military orders have also targeted various locations for tree removal and the establishment of military sites.
Simultaneously, Israeli forces conducted widespread raids across several cities and camps, including Bethlehem, Hebron, Qalqilya, Salfit, Nablus, Jenin, Tulkarm, Jericho, and Jerusalem. These operations resulted in multiple arrests, clashes, and injuries, including a child shot in the foot in Qalqilya.
In the Qusra area, a prolonged siege of Palestinian homes in Ras al-Ain has continued, accompanied by settler attacks on municipal employees and the establishment of new settlement outposts. In Masafer Yatta, five people were reported injured during a settler attack on the village of Umm al-Khair.
